Let's go a little further and make up some ideas about how to design the front of a boat we are going to build. First we think of a sentence that has the possibility of important words being replaced and expanding the sentence in those places:
"My boat's front should be functional, but it should be designed well."
"Well" isn't a good enough word to describe the front of your dream boat. It really doesn't tell you anything. We will pick "well" as the word that we want replaced by words in our Word Category lists.
Select "well" with the mouse.
Then go into the "Create" pull-down menu and select "Merge" again. The same list will come up. Click on any word you wish. Now go through the list to find a better way to describe the way your boat's front should be designed. Select a word that you think will help you better describe how it should be designed. Since "well" is here used as an adverb let us look through the "adverb" categories. We'll pick "adverbs for form" and see what we get. Select it and then click on "OK" and the merge will be to copy the sentence, replacing "well" with the words in "adverbs for form."
You will get this result:
My boat's front should be functional,
but it should be designed well.
My boat's front should be functional, but it should be designed flat
My boat's front should be functional, but it should be designed lengthwise
My boat's front should be functional, but it should be designed horizontally
My boat's front should be functional, but it should be designed on edge
